An interactive workshop exploring how men can overcome the limitations of traditional male stereotypes.
5 years ago, mental health speaker, coach and consultant, Andy Hix was told by his partner that she wanted him to be “more manly.” His response was to ask: “What does that mean? And how do I do that?”
Having felt a very strong aversion to stereotypical notions of masculinity growing up, he started to explore what it means to be a man in 2024. This has included campaigning and speaking about men’s mental health and masculinity and also setting up his own monthly men’s group. In the group, Andy supports other men to open up to each other, sharing about their lives and exploring these questions of masculinity together.

In this interactive session, we encourage participants to share (anonymously or openly) about this complex and emotive topic.
Andy Hix has been supporting men to open up and talk about their mental health for over 10 years through coaching and group work. He has worked with men to develop their resilience through divorce, to embrace rather than reject their emotions, to let of the anger and aggression they had been expressing towards their partners and to develop greater self-compassion and communication skills.
During the covid lockdowns of 2020, He set up his own men’s group as a way to explore my relationship with masculinity and deepen his ability to be vulnerable and open with other men.
He also regularly runs workshops on suicide prevention, having been deeply affected by his friend taking his life in 2019 at the age of 39.
“Excellent in every way. Andy was a great speaker. Knowledgeable and informative.”
